WORSHIP IS STILL FUN!

So first of all I post videos of worship songs and leaders because this is part of how I worship during the week. It keeps me focused on reaching the world even if it is from the inner walls of my cave of an office @ church. Recently I said to some people that I don't like music, probably not an accurate statement. I do like and love music, but it is not all I am. As a worship guy on staff at a church people might think, "oh he sits around and listens to music all day". Not so! Music is part of me and how I move through this world. Here is what I like about music. I like how music is rhythmic, melodic, repetitive, unique, uniting, dividing, and I love how music is emotional. It will always create an emotion in you, that emotion may be distain, sorrow, anger or joy but an emotion will be spent listening to music. So, I do like music but I also like baseball, football, eating food, and a whole lot of other stuff that I have the opportunity to enjoy and worship God through.

So, here is a video from Charlie Hall. He is a traveling worship leader, he does camps, conferences and stuff like that. He is good musically, but more importantly he has an awesome heart for God. Hope you enjoy this song and let the words penetrate your heart.

- Side note, Tim and I have started reading "Vintage Jesus". The race to finish this book started last week. I am sadly already behind by 3 chapters. And now my Pastor has given me a book I need to read to share with the staff ideas from. So my focus has switched, I am now reading another book first then "Vintage Jesus". I am no reader, one at a time PLEASE!

Bingo, Bongo!

Wars and Scores Part Two

Bobby takes it home today. Beat this video tim!

Holy Cow! now that is special effects at its best. You know this isn't real right?

Wars and Scores

So it does seem "tim the intern" and I have started a blog war. I don't even know why or how it has started but it does seem fun for now. So we will battle! (this will hopefully encourage people to read our blog and help us to post more, or we are losers who blog and are the only two who read our blogs. I guess will never know!)

Tim and I have challenged each other to read this book "Vintage Jesus" by Mark Driscoll and Gerry Breshears. The reason for the challenge is I have a million yes a million books in my library and can count on my hand how many I have finished. I want to start finishing books. I am not a particularly good reader like my wife who can read a 500 page book in an afternoon. I am though good at being competitive so I thought a challenge would be good for me to try and start finishing books.

I will say I am already ahead of tim as I have already read 2 chapters. But I should also say that tim just bought the book and I have had the book for 5 months. So I am averaging about a quarter of a chapter a month. Told you not good at reading. The winner of this book reading contest needs to get something. Maybe if you read this post you can comment and suggest what we should win. Of coarse we should do some kind of book report to see who read the book better.

Or maybe when we both finish we can go to get an Italian Beef and Sausage Sandwich. Mmm - Italian Beef, that sounds awesome right now.

To Brandy's ( A Restaurant ) I go!

Wars and Scores, battle is mine today because I don't even think tim will post today!

Baptism Sunday WCCC

So our church had an amazing service this past Sunday. We had 10 people baptized professing their faith in Jesus Christ. I am still fairly new to Windy City and this is the first baptism Sunday I have been a part of here. It was incredible, we have everyone who is baptized share their testimony from the baptismal. It was so encouraging to hear their hearts. To hear them name people in the church that God used to share the gospel and invite them to church. To hear the stories of people who had hard times before Jesus, still have hard times after Jesus but now have the hope of glory living inside of them to help them endure to the end.

We also had a worship choir sing with the worship team. We don't normally have a choir so to see people up on stage leading us in worship of the King of kings was inspiring. We had all generations represented in the choir, minus babies. That would've been cool though. So anyway, very uplifting day. I hope if you were there you thought the same. If you missed it, I am sorry but all I can say is come out this Sunday and worship with us.

Sorry for no video today, Tim the Intern made fun of me for using them all the time!

So, no video. Maybe tomorrow!

Worship is Fun

I love all the avenues God has created for us to worship. This song "Revelation Song" is a song we will be doing at Easter. In this video I love to see how God has used the vision of so many to create such a beautiful picture of worship to God. From the Vocals, Instruments, Lights, Video and the worshippers in the congregation.

Hope you enjoy, Love yall!

God Sings?

Singing is a huge part of my life. As a worship pastor I spend my life, my work or job to engage the church to sing. This thought, this fact that God sings over us is one that I have never thought much about until I saw this video and read the sermon that goes with it.

I hope when you attend church, hopefully you engage during the time of singing. What ever the ability of your voice. When you sing you feel, when I sing the words "I will go for you" or "salvation is here" It comes from the depths of my soul. My passion poured out at the top of my lungs and this thought reminds me of who I am. I am made in the image of God. So much so that what I like to do God does to me. As I sing over Him, He sings over me!

Where are all the posts

So I am not good at blogging regularly, which is funny because If I was honest I love to talk. Plus If I talk here I don't get yelled at or told I am annoying. So I have challenged myself to blog for 7 days straight. I hope you enjoy and if not let me know about it. I can take a lot of criticism.

So this is a random video

Hope you enjoy! This video was made by a camp company I used to work for. They are awesome, you should check them out.
